PEACE & CALM, a note from the sellers
We simply love living in Deephaven. The trees, the winding roads and the sense of community are some of the things that initially attracted us. What we didn’t know was how much we would grow to love walking the neighborhood, down the trail, past the beach, up the hill to Thorpe Park and down Northome Road back to the house, watching the spectacular sunsets at Robinsons Bay beach, swimming at the beaches and playing tennis in Thorpe park.
We chose to build this modern cottage as a place we could live comfortably in, use all of the spaces thoughtfully and keep sustainability in mind. We started with a metal roof, (saves 40% in energy costs and lasts about 50 years) and reclaimed pine floors, found a vintage bathtub in a house in St Paul, used Marmoleum a natural, durable linoleum and installed carpets that are made from mostly recycled materials. Single level living was important to us. 2021 we finished the lower level, putting thought and care into each choice. We sourced reclaimed pine planks for the doors in MN and were super excited to find the mantle and have it custom cut and finished. The space is so warm and cozy, almost dreamy. Adding the yoga sanctuary has proved such a miracle and this space could be used to fit an abundance of needs!
We built to create a peaceful place where we could surround ourselves with friends old and new. We use the kitchen to create great meals to share and grill a lot on the deck off the dining room, we eat in the front and back garden and on the oversized back deck. The custom-built giant fire bowl is always a treat! We relax, visit and eat in the porch (our favorite room in the house). Birds, owls and local wildlife are ever present in this great spot!
This is a tranquil, peaceful location that has easy access to everything we need. Lifetime fitness is 1 mile away, Lakewinds food co-op is 1.5 miles and Target, Cub and Chuck & Dons are about 10 minutes drive. Wayzata and Excelsior are really close and very easy to get to either driving or biking on the trails and we love the great selection of restaurants and shopping possibilities they both have. Hwy 394 and Hwy 494 are very accessible making it a breeze to get downtown to see a show or try a new place to eat!
Our kids loved their schools and went to St Therese and Minnetonka schools. The community ed. program in the district is outstanding!
